La Trappe Tripel

About
La Trappe Witte Trappist is the world's first and only Trappist white ale, brewed since 1884 by Brouwerij de Koningshoeven on the grounds of the Cistercian Abbey of Our Lady of Koningshoeven in the Dutch province of North Brabant. The name honours the French abbey Notre-Dame de la Grande Trappe in Normandy. This witbier stands apart from its peers by omitting added spices and citrus peel. The brewery bottles it with yeast and sugar, allowing fermentation to continue in the bottle and creating a distinctive aroma. Only natural ingredients are used: hops, barley, yeast and spring water from the abbey's own source. Light-blonde and hazy in appearance, it carries a firm, persistent head. The palate is smooth and malty with gentle tartness and a tingling sensation. The finish is clean and refreshing, leaving no lingering sweetness.
