La Trappe Quadrupel

About
La Trappe Quadrupel Oak Aged is a masterwork from Bierbrouwerij de Koningshoeven, brewed within the walls of the abbey in Brabant. This oak-aged variant of their celebrated Quadrupel revives a monastic tradition—the monks matured the beer in wooden barrels to create a unique, complex flavour that varies with each barrel type. The nose reveals clove and nut notes, balanced by vanilla, raisin and banana. On the palate, a full, warming character emerges with distinct oak aromas reminiscent of wood-aged red wine. The beer is smooth and malty, never boozy despite its strength. The finish is long and warming, with subtle dry and slightly sour notes that give the beer its distinctive character. This is a contemplative Trappist ale for those who savour complexity.
