About
Karjala is a Finnish lager with roots stretching back to 1932, when it was first brewed in Sortavala in Finnish Karelia. Now produced by Hartwall, one of Finland's largest breweries, Karjala has become a staple of Finnish beer culture. The beer is brewed traditionally using only water, malted barley and hops, with no adjuncts. This is a clear, golden lager with a full-bodied malt character and balanced hop bitterness. The aroma presents grain and malt with subtle hop notes. On the palate, malty sweetness develops into a dry finish with sharp, well-defined bitterness. The beer has a medium body with crisp, effervescent carbonation—refreshing and approachable for everyday enjoyment or warm-weather gatherings.
