Chimay Grande Réserve Fermentée en Barriques is a triple-fermented strong ale from Abdij Notre-Dame de Scourmont, aged in a selection of wooden barrels. At 10.5% ABV, this deep brown beer reveals a sophisticated profile. The nose carries aromas of calvados, oak, raisins and brown sugar. On the palate, dried fruit notes mingle with caramel and a gentle spice, the result of barrel maturation. The full body and warming alcohol give way to a long, refined finish. Each edition features different barrel types—French oak, American oak, and spirit finishes—creating a distinctive expression of Chimay's brewing tradition.
