Kriek Boon is a spontaneously fermented lambic from Lembeek in which fresh cherries are macerated on young and old lambic aged in oak barrels. Brouwerij Boon's approach yields an approachable, lightly sour cherry beer with genuine fruit character and complexity. The nose presents ripe cherry with emerging oak and a subtle wine-like quality. On the palate, tart cooked cherries meet restrained sweetness in a dry, well-structured body. The finish is clean and lingering, with a vinous dryness and gentle tannins that recall red wine more than typical beer.
