About
Oude Kriek Boon is a traditional, spontaneously fermented lambic from Lembeek, made by fermenting 400 grams of fresh cherries per litre of young lambic. Under Frank Boon's stewardship, the brewery has become custodian of the world's largest volume of lambic beer and a champion of authentic Oude Geuze and Kriek traditions. The deep red colour and pink head hint at what's to come. Cherry aromas dominate, accompanied by notes of ripe fruit and subtle oak character. On the palate, tart cherries and bright fruit give way to deeper, wine-like notes reminiscent of Port or Madeira, finishing clean and dry. This kriek balances wild fermentation complexity with the natural tartness of macerated cherries—a beer that stands apart from modern fruit lambics through its refined, vinous character and long, evolving finish.
