WooHa Brewing Company was founded in 2015 and based in Kinloss, Morayshire, in the Scottish Highlands. From the outset, the brewery positioned itself as an export-focused craft brewer with international ambitions, exporting its beers to the United States as early as 2015. The brewery invested in a 16,000 sq ft production facility in Kinloss, reflecting its growth aspirations in the competitive craft beer market. In 2021, WooHa entered administration and was subsequently acquired by North Coast Brewing Co Ltd for an undisclosed sum, with production expected to restart following the takeover. WooHa built its reputation on a range of highly distinctive craft beers with eye-catching brand names. Among its best-known beers are the WooHa IPA — a deeply coloured, unfiltered amber-brown IPA with sticky foam and strong hop character — and Ruadha, another notable beer from its portfolio. The brewery was recognised for its bold branding and pioneering approach to craft beer styles, setting it apart in the Scottish brewing scene. Prior to entering administration, WooHa had attracted external investment, including a crowdfunding round on Crowdcube in January 2020, demonstrating the public appetite for the brand. Its export track record and distinctive portfolio made it an attractive acquisition target, and under North Coast Brewing, the WooHa brand continues to carry forward its craft beer legacy from Morayshire.
