Trumer traces its brewing heritage back to 1601, when brewing rights were first established in Obertrum am See, a small town near Salzburg, Austria. For centuries, the Trumer Brauerei operated as a private brewery — a Privatbrauerei — deeply rooted in the culture and landscape of the Salzburg region. The brewery's long history makes it one of the oldest continuously operating brewing traditions in Austria, a country with a rich and respected beer culture. Trumer is best known for its commitment to the pilsner style. The flagship Trumer Pils is a finely crafted European pilsner, brewed according to traditional methods and focused on precision, balance, and drinkability. The beer is characterised by its crisp bitterness, delicate hop aroma, and clean malt character — hallmarks of a well-made Central European lager. In 2004, a sister brewery was established in Berkeley, California, bringing authentic Trumer Pils to the American market while maintaining the same brewing standards as the original Austrian brewery. The Berkeley brewery has since added a taproom, offering visitors a direct experience of Trumer's pilsner tradition on the West Coast. The U.S. operations were originally set up by The Gambrinus Company and more recently came under the stewardship of Firestone Walker, ensuring continued distribution and visibility for this centuries-old Austrian pilsner brand in North America.
