D'Oude Maalderij is a characterful microbrewery located in Izegem, in the West Flanders region of Belgium. The brewery is the creative brainchild of brewer Jef 'Hiq' Pirens, who has built a reputation for his distinctive and independent approach to brewing. Since presenting their first unique beer, the Qantelaar, in 2012, D'Oude Maalderij has steadily grown into one of the more intriguing craft breweries in the Leie region of West Flanders. The brewery is known for its inventive and idiosyncratic portfolio, reflecting the personality and passion of its founder. D'Oude Maalderij produces a range of beers that stand out for their originality and craftsmanship, including the porter-style Maximo and the striking Umibozu. The brewery regularly pushes creative boundaries, as demonstrated by milestone releases such as the '200th Anniversary Brew', a special beer crafted to celebrate their 200th batch. D'Oude Maalderij is also home to Eetcafé The Mash, combining the brewing experience with a welcoming food and drink destination. Featured in De Zytholoog magazine and recognised on the Belgian craft beer scene, the brewery has attracted attention from beer enthusiasts and journalists internationally.
