Bierbrouwerij Tanklokaal is a craft brewery based in Holten, in the Dutch province of Overijssel. Founded in 2020 by two friends, the brewery has its roots in a passion for homebrewing that began earlier — co-founder Jelle Veneman started brewing beer in 2017, initially using his grandmother's pots and pans in the kitchen. From these humble beginnings, Tanklokaal grew into a fully-fledged local brewery with a clear identity rooted in regional culture and storytelling. What sets Tanklokaal apart is its philosophy of connecting each beer to a local legend or ancient folk tale from the area. Every beer in their portfolio carries its own character, inspired by the myths and stories of the surrounding region. Their range includes styles such as Tripel and Quadrupel, and their beers are available at local shops and hospitality venues in the neighbourhood. The brewery also offers guided tastings, where visitors can sample five different beers accompanied by snacks. Among their most celebrated beers is Old Minneke, a Tripel at 9.1% ABV inspired by the local saga of the same name, described as a fresh, spicy, and fruity beer with an Untappd rating of 3.73. Their Quadrupel 'Derk met den Beer' has been recognised as the best Quadrupel in the Netherlands, an honour the brewery describes with great pride.
