Barrel Project 21.07 is a Double IPA from Brouwerij Kees in Middelburg, matured in Sauternes casks. This ambitious release merges the bold hop character of a DIPA with the subtle fruitiness and sweetness imparted by the wine barrel. At 8% ABV, it delivers a full body and layered complexity.
The nose reveals sweet and hoppy aromas with a hint of tartness. On the palate, citrus and tropical hop notes emerge, complemented by the influence of the Sauternes maturation. The finish is dry and bitter, true to the DIPA style, with a satisfying length.
