Salty Dick
Salty Dick was an experimental gose from Oedipus Brewing in Amsterdam, born from a creative challenge: brew a beer that is either salty or evokes summer. The result was a crisp, sour ale with an unconventional flavour profile.
The beer was soured with Lactobacillus in the kettle, where salt was added during the boil. After fermentation, American dry hops were applied, followed by grapefruit and lime peel additions. This combination delivered fruity, citrus-forward notes balanced by a savoury salt character.
Though no longer in production, Salty Dick exemplified Oedipus's willingness to experiment with unexpected ingredients and rework classic German beer styles.
