Glühkriek from Brouwerij Oud Beersel is a spontaneously fermented cherry lambic at 6.8% ABV. This blendery in Beersel, one of Belgium's last authentic lambic producers, marries traditional lambic with sour cherries to create a complex, fruit-forward kriek. The nose reveals ripe cherry fruit with subtle citrus notes and hints of spice. On the palate, tartness takes centre stage, joined by cherry character, delicate floral notes, and a dry finish. Medium body with moderate carbonation gives this kriek an elegant profile without heaviness. Glühkriek pairs beautifully with red-fruit desserts, but also holds its own alongside refined fish dishes and game.
