Rigtersbier is a Dutch craft brewery with roots in the Twente region of the Netherlands. The brewery was founded by Maarten, who began brewing beer in 2011 in a shed at his home in Rigtersbleek, a neighbourhood in Enschede. The name Rigtersbier is directly derived from that original location, reflecting the homegrown origins of the brand. Over the years, the brewery has grown from a backyard hobby into a professional brewing operation, eventually relocating to Haaksbergen. Rigtersbier is known for its artisanal approach to brewing, a quality recognised by the Dutch Council of State (Raad van State), which acknowledged the craftsmanship of the brewing methods. The brewery operates alongside Buurse Bier, described as two lines sharing one passion, suggesting a close connection between the two brands. The facility is also made available to other brewers, functioning as a shared or rental brewery space. Rigtersbier has earned recognition beyond its regional roots: founder Maarten won a Brussels Beer Challenge award, a prestigious international beer competition, for his work. The brewery also made history by organising the first online beer festival in the Netherlands on Whit Monday 2020, demonstrating its innovative spirit within the Dutch craft beer scene.
