Brouwerij Palm is one of Belgium's oldest and most storied breweries, with roots stretching back to 1706 — and a history connected to the De Hoorn inn, which dates as far back as 1380 in the village of Steenhuffel, in the Flemish Brabant region. Over the centuries, the brewery grew from a rural farmstead operation into a major force in Belgian brewing. In 2016, Brouwerij Palm was acquired by Dutch brewer Bavaria, becoming part of the Royal Swinkels Family Brewers group. Palm has built its reputation on a portfolio spanning both high-fermented and low-fermented beers. The brewery is best known for its flagship Palm Amber Ale, a 5.4% amber beer brewed with English hops and French barley that has long been considered one of Europe's top-selling specialty beers. The range also includes Palm Royale, a fruity and malty Belgian pale ale first brewed in 2003 to mark the 90th birthday of the Belgian royal family. As part of Royal Swinkels, Brouwerij Palm continues to operate from its historic site in Steenhuffel, maintaining its identity as a cornerstone of Belgian beer culture. The brewery's enduring legacy and consistent quality have cemented its place among the most recognisable names in Belgian brewing.
