Brouwerij Maallust is a craft beer brewery located in Veenhuizen, a village in the Dutch province of Drenthe with a remarkably rich and layered history. The brewery was founded in 2011 by a group of 25 investors and entrepreneurs who call themselves 'de Zware Jongens' (the Heavy Guys). They chose Veenhuizen deliberately, a place steeped in social and industrial heritage, and set up their brewing operation in a former grain mill that now doubles as both brewery and tasting room.
