The Royal Brewery of Krušovice, known in Czech as Královský pivovar Krušovice, is one of the oldest breweries in the Czech Republic, established in 1581 in the village of Krušovice, approximately 70 kilometres west of Prague. Its royal heritage is not merely a marketing title — the brewery has a centuries-old history deeply rooted in Bohemian brewing tradition. In 2007, the brewery was acquired by Heineken, joining a portfolio of internationally recognised beer brands while remaining one of three Czech breweries operated by Heineken Czech Republic. Krušovice is best known for producing premium Czech lagers crafted with a commitment to quality Czech ingredients. A defining characteristic of its beers is the use of noble Saaz hops, a variety synonymous with the finest Bohemian brewing, lending the beers their distinctive bitterness and aroma. The brewery's portfolio includes flagship lagers such as Krušovice Imperial and Krušovice Světlé, styles that reflect the proud Czech tradition of bottom-fermented, golden lager. Krušovice Imperial has been officially introduced to international markets, including the United Kingdom, positioning the brand as a premium import with genuine heritage. The brewery employs around 300 staff and continues to represent the depth and craftsmanship of Czech lager culture on both domestic and global stages.
