LVR Breweries is a Dutch craft beer brand founded in 2016 by Loek Eerhart and his partner, based in the Zoetermeer area of the Netherlands. The brand grew out of a passion for brewing that began with experimental test batches brewed at home in Loek's kitchen. After many rounds of brewing, tasting, and refining, LVR Breweries was formally established and began producing beers as a contract brewer, working with various breweries across the Netherlands to bring their recipes to life. As a gypsy or contract brewing operation, LVR Breweries did not own its own brewing facility but instead focused on recipe development and quality, collaborating with established Dutch breweries to produce its beers. This approach allowed the brand to remain nimble and experimental in its portfolio, exploring a range of craft beer styles in the Dutch artisanal brewing tradition. In March 2022, the founders made the decision to phase out the LVR Breweries brand and launch a new identity under the name ROEM, described as a local and artisanal beer brand. ROEM later became associated with De Zoetermeerse Brouwerij, a brewing project rooted in the Zoetermeer community. As a result, LVR Breweries represents an important early chapter in the founding story of what would become a locally focused craft brewing venture.
