Brouwerij De Grieze traces its roots to 2013, when master brewer Joop "De Grieze" Nohlmans first started crafting beer as a hobby in his shed. Based in the small hamlet of Lull, near Oostrum in the Dutch province of Limburg, what began as a passion project grew steadily over the years. By 2020, the brewery had evolved into a fully fledged operation, establishing itself as a recognisable craft beer brand in the region and beyond. De Grieze distinguishes itself by brewing with locally sourced ingredients, including produce from its own garden. The brewery's portfolio spans a range of styles, from blonde ales to strong quadrupels reaching 10.5% ABV. One of its blonde beers is brewed with bog myrtle, orange peel, honey and Cascade hops, illustrating the brewery's willingness to experiment with unconventional ingredients alongside traditional brewing techniques. The use of top fermentation and complex fruity esters is also a hallmark of certain beers in the range, such as the OBSQUUR. As a family brewery rooted in Limburg, De Grieze has built a loyal following both locally and nationally.
