Bumke is a dark amber ale from Toebes, the artisanal brewery in Sint Agatha in the Land of Cuijk. This strong beer is aged in sherry casks, giving it a deep red-brown colour and layered complexity. The nose carries notes of raisins, caramel and roasted malt. On the palate, a gentle bitterness emerges without overpowering the other flavours. Bumke balances the richness of barrel aging with restrained hop character. At 8.5% ABV, this is a beer to savour slowly, allowing the warmth and depth of the wood to unfold gradually.
