Thornbridge Hall Bracia
Bracia is an English Strong Ale from Thornbridge Brewery in Bakewell, Derbyshire, born from the pioneering vision of founders Jim Harrison and Simon Webster, who started brewing in 2005 on a secondhand kit.
The grain bill—Marris Otter, brown, dark crystal, black, chocolate, peated and roasted barley—creates a deep, complex foundation. The aroma is intriguing: roasty and sweet, with honey, toffee, coffee and dark fruit notes. A subtle medicinal quality adds character.
On the palate, sweetness meets bitterness: honey, chocolate, coffee, licorice and dark fruit are balanced by assertive hop bitterness. Full-bodied and substantial, it finishes dry with lingering peat and smoke. A sophisticated, challenging ale that resists easy categorization.
