This classic Bavarian helles stands apart through a unique smoke character without smoke malt—the result of the traditional wood-fire kiln drying that Schlenkerla has practised for centuries. Brewed with fine Bavarian aroma hops from the Nuremberg region and lagered in century-old caves beneath the brewery, this 4.3% beer delivers a refined balance of grain, honey notes, and a subtle smoky backdrop. It is smoother than the house's classic smoked beers, yet carries more smoke aroma than a standard helles would suggest. An approachable, drinkable beer that proves smoked beer need not be heavy or overwhelming.
