Against the Grain is a gluten-free Imperial IPA brewed by Oproer Brouwerij in Utrecht. This robust double IPA marries fruity hop character with a dry, assertive bitterness. The beer emerged from the merger of two Utrecht breweries and reflects Oproer's commitment to well-balanced, flavourful brewing with careful attention to craft. In the glass, Against the Grain displays a full body with pronounced hop flavours of fruit and pine, complemented by caramel malt sweetness. The finish is dry and bitter, with good length. Despite the 8.5% ABV, the beer feels integrated and approachable rather than alcohol-driven.
