Abt-Generaal Vatgerijpt 2022 is a special edition from Berne Abdijbier, the only Dutch Norbertine beer from the historic Abbey of Berne. The base Quadrupel ages for one year in oak barrels previously used for Rum Barbados and Islay Single Malt Beer Laphroaig, creating a full-bodied, powerful character with pronounced vanilla notes from the wood. This dark brown beer offers aromas of roasted malt, nuts and yeast. The palate reveals sweet caramelized malt, raisins and chocolate, complemented by subtle rum and whisky influences from barrel maturation. The finish is warming and complex, true to the Quadrupel style and barrel-aging tradition.
