Grutte Pier Bock is a wood-smoked double bock from Frisian brewery Grutte Pier, named after the legendary freedom fighter who defended Friesland around 1517. This is a spiced bock with pronounced smokiness and a subtle wood character. The flavour combines sweet malt notes with star anise and liquorice, creating a complex taste experience. The mouthfeel is creamy and smooth, while the finish evolves beautifully from sweet to smoky and spiced. At 8% ABV, this is a full-bodied, characterful bock that pairs well with fatty fish, spiced dishes and meat.
