Westmalle Tripel is the defining Trappist beer from Westmalle Abbey in Belgium. The monks created this golden ale in 1934—a revolutionary beer that established the modern Tripel style and influenced Belgian brewing worldwide. At 9.5% ABV, it demands patience and respect. The character is refined and elegant: soft and creamy on the palate, balanced by fruit aroma and a subtle bitter edge. Tropical notes of pineapple and grapefruit emerge alongside floral and spicy undertones from the Belgian yeast. Pale malts and carefully selected hops work in harmony.
