Duvel Barrel Aged Batch No.3 represents Brouwerij Duvel Moortgat's venture into barrel aging: the iconic Duvel spends 6 to 7 months maturing in American bourbon oak. The result is a bolder, more layered beer than its namesake, stepping up to 11.5% ABV from the standard 8.5%. The foundation remains Duvel's signature style—pale malts with Saaz and Styrian Goldings hops. The bourbon barrels introduce substantial character: smoky oak, vanilla, caramel and bourbon warmth. The beer retains its golden hue and fine carbonation, but with increased body and a lingering finish. This is a contemplative beer for those who respect the classic Duvel but seek greater depth. Batch No.3 marks one of the early chapters in what has become Duvel Moortgat's ongoing barrel-aged series.
