Central Waters Brewing Company in Wisconsin created this Imperial Stout through a long-standing collaboration with neighbouring B&E's Trees, a family farm operating off-grid. The brewery donated freshly emptied bourbon barrels to be filled with bourbon barrel aged maple syrup, then reclaimed the vessels to age their Imperial Stout inside. The result marries the earthy, nutty character of Wisconsin maple wood with the roasted depth of dark malts and bourbon oak. On the palate, the beer opens with mellow roasted malt and caramel sweetness, then reveals layers of bourbon, vanilla and molasses as it warms. The body is full and velvety with low carbonation. The finish lingers with chocolate, syrup notes and a gentle warming alcohol heat that makes the beer feel rich and complete.
