Avery Brewing Company in Boulder, Colorado crafted this Imperial Stout with a double dose of vanilla from beans sourced in Tonga, Uganda and Mexico, then aged in bourbon barrels. The silky-smooth body carries aromas of chocolate, caramel and molasses. On the palate, sweet vanilla and cocoa take the lead, followed by toffee, a pronounced bourbon character and subtle dark fruit notes. The finish is warming and full-bodied, with oak and bourbon barrel influence that complements rather than overwhelms the vanilla.
