Amstel 1870 is the original beer of Amstel Brewery, founded in 1870 by Charles de Pesters and Johannes van Marwijk Kooy on Amsterdam's Mauritskade. This premium pilsner stands out for its fuller malt character and characteristic hop-forward bitterness compared to standard Amstel. Brewed with a specific blend of barley malts and fine aromatic hops, it delivers a deeper golden colour. The flavour combines malty sweetness with a refined bitterness, supported by crisp water from the nearby river.
