Æthelstan from Big Belly Brewing in Breda is an ambitious Imperial Porter built on ten different malts, including peated whiskey malt. This foundation gives the beer its distinctive complexity and subtle smoky character reminiscent of the Scottish Highlands.

The beer arrives full and creamy, with notes of dark chocolate, caramel and roasted grain. Undercurrents of licorice-like fruit, bramble and cherry add depth, balanced by spice and gentle bitterness. The creamy mouthfeel makes this heavyweight surprisingly approachable despite its strength.
