Barnstiën is an amber ale from Amelander Bierbrouwerij, a craft brewery based in Ballum on the island of Ameland in Friesland. The name references amber-coloured fossilised resin found locally. Brewed with barley, amber and cara malts, it pours a ruby-amber colour with a full, crisp character. The aroma shows caramel with subtle yeasty notes. On the palate, malty sweetness dominates, accompanied by caramel and a hint of coriander—a signature ingredient for the brewery. Distant plum notes add complexity. The finish is robust and yeasty, closing dry.
