A Classic Return

Tröegs Independent Brewing from Hershey, Pennsylvania, released this new year-round beer in late 2025 as a tribute to the universal appeal of easy-drinking lagers from the pre-Prohibition era. Pennsylvania Lager is a 5% ABV American Lager built on 100% malted barley with no fillers, and it's the result of careful development in the brewery's Scratch Lab.

Brewing Craftsmanship

This beer employs decoction mashing, open fermentation, and local heritage yeast—techniques that ensure quality and character. According to co-founder and brewmaster John Trogner, lagers have been part of Tröegs' DNA since the beginning. After seven test batches in their 3-barrel Research & Development brewhouse, they arrived at a final recipe everyone loved.

Tasting Profile

Pennsylvania Lager delivers breadlike and grainy notes on the nose. The palate shows bread, biscuit, and herbal/grassy characteristics, balanced with a clean finish and restrained bitterness.
