North Coast Brewing Company
United States · Founded in 1988
Founded in 1988, North Coast Brewing Company is one of the pioneering craft breweries of America's unofficial 'Class of '88', a small group of independent breweries that helped shape the modern craft beer movement. Based in Fort Bragg, California, the brewery has built a reputation as an independent producer of exceptional, award-winning beers over more than three decades of operation. North Coast Brewing Company offers a diverse and well-respected portfolio spanning a wide range of beer styles. Among their long-standing staples are Red Seal Ale, first bottled in 1988, and PranQster, introduced in 1995 — both now also available in cans. In 1996, the brewery launched the Acme brand, a light pale ale inspired by pre-Prohibition styles of the historic Acme Brewing Company, further demonstrating the breadth of their brewing vision. The brewery is particularly known for its Old Stock Ale, a traditional strong ale celebrated for its malt depth, aging potential, and warming alcohol character. Vintages of Old Stock Ale have proven to age exceptionally well, with the 2001 release still regarded as impressive well into 2019. North Coast Brewing Company's consistent quality and commitment to independence have cemented its place as a cornerstone of American craft brewing.
