Brehon Brewhouse is a small-batch microbrewery located on a working dairy farm in Killanny, Ireland. The brewery is the brainchild of local farmer Seamus McMahon, who transformed a family farm that has been in his family for over 100 years into a thriving brewing operation. According to the brewery itself, Brehon Brewhouse was born from a drunken idea, and the name draws inspiration from the ancient Brehon Laws — the old Irish legal and cultural tradition that governed life through story, land, and community long before written contracts existed. This deep connection to Irish heritage is central to the brewery's identity and philosophy. Brehon Brewhouse operates three interconnected enterprises: dairy farming, craft beer brewing, and a tourist experience. This farm-to-glass approach gives the brewery a distinctive character within the Irish craft beer scene. The portfolio spans a variety of styles, including an Irish Red Ale (4.5% ABV), a Shanco Dubh Porter (8.8%), and barrel-aged beers — among them a Raglan Road Whiskey Cask Aged release. The brewery also produces stout, celebrated on occasions such as International Stout Day, reflecting a strong commitment to classic Irish beer styles alongside more adventurous, barrel-aged expressions. Brehon Brewhouse has developed a following among craft beer enthusiasts in Ireland and beyond, with its beers available through specialist retailers in the Netherlands and elsewhere in Europe. The brewery's blend of agricultural roots, cultural storytelling, and varied beer styles makes it a notable name in modern Irish craft brewing.
