Brauerei Gutmann
Germany · Founded in 1707
Brauerei Gutmann is a family-owned brewery located in Titting, a small town nestled in the picturesque Altmühltal nature park in Bavaria, Germany. Founded in 1707, the brewery has remained in family hands for over three centuries, making it one of the most enduring independent breweries in the country. Its long heritage is rooted in the traditional Bavarian brewing culture that has shaped the region for centuries. Gutmann's portfolio centres on wheat beer, or Weizen, which is the brewery's true speciality and signature. Among its most recognised offerings is the Hefeweizen, a classic unfiltered wheat beer brewed in the traditional Bavarian style. The brewery also produces a Dunkel Weissbier, a darker take on the wheat beer style, offering a richer malt character alongside the characteristic notes typical of top-fermented wheat brewing. With an annual output of around 120,000 hectolitres reported in 2008, Gutmann operates at a meaningful scale while maintaining its artisanal identity. The brewery's reputation extends beyond Germany. Brauerei Gutmann has collaborated with Sierra Nevada Brewing on an authentic Oktoberfest beer, bringing its centuries-old expertise to an international audience. The brewery employs approximately 55 people and continues to represent the craftsmanship and continuity that defines traditional German family brewing.
