Bidassoa Basque Brewery
Spain · Founded in 2014
Bidassoa Basque Brewery is a craft brewery born out of a passion for artisan beer and microbiology, founded in 2014 in Irun, in the heart of the Basque Country, Spain. The brewery takes its name from the Bidasoa River, which runs alongside the town of Irun — a nod to the deep regional roots that define the brand's identity. Since its inception, Bidassoa has sought to fuse tradition with innovation, crafting beers that reflect the unique character and essence of the Basque Country. The brewery's portfolio spans a range of styles that balance accessibility and creativity. Among their offerings is the Bidassoa Lager, which earned a Gold medal at the 2024 Barcelona Beer Challenge — a testament to the quality and craftsmanship behind their brewing process. Their Erroa IPA (5.9%) showcases a locally sourced hop character with fruity flavours and a commitment to sustainability through eco-friendly packaging, reflecting a km0 philosophy rooted in respect for the local environment. Bidassoa offers guided brewery tours that walk visitors through the brewing process, concluding with a tasting session — making it a genuine taproom experience in the Basque region. In May 2024, Bidassoa became part of a merger with Naparbier and Mala Gissona, forming one company operating three independent brands, further strengthening the craft beer landscape of the Basque Country.
