Zillertal Bier

Zillertal Bier is the oldest family-owned brewery in Tyrol, Austria, with roots stretching back to 1500 — more than five centuries of uninterrupted brewing tradition. Based in Zell am Ziller, the brewery has been passed down through 16 generations of the same family. A key milestone came in 1678, when Ludwig Jobst, a direct ancestor of the current owners, acquired the brewery, cementing its place as a cornerstone of Tyrolean beer culture. Today, Zillertal Bier employs more than 60 people and continues to position itself as the home of beer culture in the region. The brewery draws on alpine spring water and a deep-rooted commitment to quality and craftsmanship. Its portfolio blends tradition with modernity, covering a range of lager-focused styles that are characteristic of the Austrian brewing tradition. Among the beers in its lineup is a Märzen, a historically significant seasonal style, as well as a Schwarzbier with an Untappd rating of 3.34. The brewery describes lager as the foundation of its portfolio — a style lovingly refined over generations. Zillertal Bier has also developed a visitor experience called the BrauKunstHaus in Zell am Ziller, offering beer lovers a deep dive into the brewery's history, craftsmanship, and the cultural roots of the Zillertal valley. With active brand development aimed at strengthening its image in Tyrol and beyond, Zillertal Bier remains a proud ambassador of Austrian alpine brewing heritage.
