Weißbierbrauerei Hopf

Weißbierbrauerei Hopf is a wheat beer brewery based in Miesbach, Bavaria, Germany. Founded in 1892, the brewery gained its defining character in 1921 when the Hopf family took over operations. By 1950, the family had firmly established the brewery's identity, building a tradition rooted in Bavarian wheat beer craftsmanship that has endured for well over a century. The brewery operates under the name Hopfweisse and remains closely associated with the Miesbach region in Upper Bavaria. True to its name and heritage, Hopf specialises exclusively in wheat beers — known in German as Weißbier or Weizenbier. The brewery's portfolio centres on traditional Hefeweizen styles, brewed with characteristic wheat malt and top-fermenting yeast that deliver the classic banana and clove notes associated with Bavarian wheat beer. In 2015, the brewery produced approximately 45,000 hectolitres, reflecting its established position as a dedicated Weißbier specialist. Among its recognised beers, the Hopf Helle Weiße has earned an 85-point score on BeerAdvocate and a 3.5 out of 5 rating on Untappd with over 5,000 ratings, demonstrating a loyal following among wheat beer enthusiasts. In recent years, the Paulaner Brauerei Gruppe and Herzoglich Brauhaus Tegernsee signed a letter of intent to take over the brewery, marking a new chapter in its long history.
