Brewery

Tornion Panimo

Tornion Panimo, also known as Tornio Brewery, is a microbrewery located in Tornio, in the far north of Finland. With roots stretching back to 1873, the brewery has one of the longest and most storied histories in Finnish brewing. Over the decades it has undergone significant change, but it has consistently maintained its identity as an Arctic brewery drawing on the unique character of Northern Finland — including water sourced from Lapland itself. The brewery crafts a range of beers using regional ingredients, positioning itself firmly within the neolocal tradition of celebrating place through its portfolio. Its beer range spans styles from European lagers and bocks to ales, with notable examples including the 1873 Hunaja-Bock, the 1873 Juhlalager, the Ahma Sauna Lager, and the Poro Red Ale. Tornion Panimo produces craft beer and other drinks that reflect the flavours and raw materials of the Lapland region. The brewery's flagship Lapland Original Lager has earned considerable recognition on the international stage. Earlier this year it secured the title of best international lager at the World Beer Awards. In addition, the brewery's Arctic North Lager won a country award at the World Beer Awards 2025, described by judges as offering mild malt character, low carbonation, and tropical and citrusy flavours.
