Sint Canarus is a small home brewery (huisbrouwerij) nestled in the tiny village of Gottem, just south of Deinze in East Flanders, Belgium. With a cheerful self-description as "the biggest and the best brewery downtown Gottem city," the brewery embraces its charmingly modest scale with a sense of humour. Situated near the village church, Sint Canarus is a convivial neighbourhood institution rooted in the local community of the Leiestreek region. Despite its compact size — frequently cited as one of the smallest breweries in Belgium — Sint Canarus crafts a range of characterful and distinctive beers. The portfolio includes the Sint Canarus Tripel, a golden tripel with a full flavour profile and 7.5% ABV, as well as the dark and flavoursome Potteloereke, a brew that has attracted attention from beer collectors internationally. The brewery's beers are known for their personality and artisanal quality, reflecting the passion of small-scale Belgian brewing at its most authentic. Sint Canarus opens its doors to visitors every Sunday from 11:00, and on the first Sunday of each month the brewery organises a guided brewery tour. The taproom and shop offer an opportunity to discover the beers in a welcoming and informal setting, making it a favourite destination for groups and beer enthusiasts exploring the Leiestreek.
