Sinebrychoff
Finland · Founded in 1819
Sinebrychoff is Finland's oldest brewery, founded in 1819 by Russian merchant Nikolai Sinebrychoff in the Hietalahti district of Helsinki. With over two centuries of history, it holds the distinction of being the oldest operating brewery in Scandinavia. From its origins as a small brewing operation, Sinebrychoff has grown into Finland's leading manufacturer of beers, ciders, long drinks, soft drinks and energy drinks, producing around 300 million units annually. The brewery is today part of the Carlsberg Group, one of the world's largest brewing companies. Sinebrychoff's portfolio covers a wide range of beer styles alongside non-alcoholic beverages and ciders. The brewery is known for its use of quality malts and traditional brewing techniques passed down through generations. Among its most iconic beers is Koff, the flagship lager that has been synonymous with Finnish beer culture since the 19th century. Another standout is Sinebrychoff Porter, a rich Baltic porter brewed with four different malts, representing one of the oldest continuously brewed porter styles in Northern Europe. Sinebrychoff's reputation rests on its exceptional longevity and its central role in shaping Finnish brewing culture. The brewery has also revived heritage brands such as Varasto, a clean and crisp beer rooted in the city of Kerava's brewing past. Through a combination of centuries-old tradition and modern brewing technology, Sinebrychoff continues to define what Finnish beer means to both domestic and international audiences.
