Seizoensbrouwerij Vandewalle
Belgium · Founded in 2012
Seizoensbrouwerij Vandewalle is a microbrewery located in Lo-Reninge, in the heart of Belgium's Westhoek region in West Flanders. Although the brewery was founded in 2012, making it a young company by industry standards, it draws on a deep family tradition rooted in the 19th century. Brewer Chris Vandewalle revived the art of seasonal brewing in this historic corner of Flanders, breathing new life into a centuries-old local heritage. True to its name, Seizoensbrouwerij Vandewalle specialises in seasonal brewing, crafting beers that reflect the terroir of the Westhoek. The brewery distinguishes itself by using locally sourced ingredients, including Poperinge hops — grown in Belgium's famous hop-producing region just nearby — and Veurne sour cherries. This commitment to regional raw materials gives the beers a distinctly local character and connects each brew to the landscape and seasons surrounding the brewery. The brewery has earned recognition on the competition circuit, receiving a gold medal at a Belgian beer competition, with Liefmans Goudenband taking silver at the same event. Guided tours are available for visitors, and the brewery has been featured in official Flemish tourism publications as a notable beer destination. Chris Vandewalle was also respected as a beer historian, adding an intellectual depth to the brewery's identity.
