Brewery

Huyghe

Brouwerij Huyghe is one of Belgium's oldest and most respected breweries, with roots stretching back to 1654 in Melle, in the East Flanders region. The brewery was shaped by Léon Huyghe, who had worked at the local brewery in the Appelhoek before putting his family name on the establishment. Today, the brewery is a family-owned operation spanning four generations, with the fifth generation currently taking on duties alongside the fourth. Over the centuries, Huyghe has grown from a local village brewery into an internationally recognised Belgian brewing institution. The brewery's portfolio is remarkably diverse, encompassing 14 brands and over 41 beer varieties, ranging from strong Belgian ales to abbey-style beers and specialty brews. Among its most celebrated offerings is Delirium Tremens, the flagship strong golden ale that has become a global icon of Belgian brewing culture. Other notable labels include La Guillotine, Artvelde Premier Cru, Delirium Red, and the Mongozo range. The breadth of styles — from pale and amber ales to dark and fruit beers — reflects Huyghe's commitment to variety and craftsmanship. Huyghe has steadily expanded its reach through strategic acquisitions, adding Biertoren, Damy, and Brewery Villers to its portfolio, the latter bringing the abbey beers of the Vieille Villers range into the fold. Most recently, in December 2024, Huyghe acquired the renowned family brewery Het Anker, further cementing its position as one of Belgium's leading brewing groups.
