Herforder Brauerei is a German brewery located in Herford, in the Ostwestfalen-Lippe region of North Rhine-Westphalia. The brewery has a history stretching back more than 200 years, making it one of the established brewing institutions in the region. In 2007, privately-owned Warsteiner Brewery acquired Herforder Brauerei, integrating it into the Warsteiner Group alongside Paderborner Brauerei. Despite the change in ownership, the brewery maintained its strong regional identity and later formalised this commitment with a name change to Herforder Brauerei GmbH & Co. KG, reflecting its dedication to the local Herforder Pils brand. The brewery is best known for its flagship Herforder Pils, a classic German pilsner that has become a staple in the Ostwestfalen-Lippe region and is closely associated with the local football scene, serving as stadium beer for clubs in the area. As part of the Warsteiner Group, Herforder produces a wide range of beverages in addition to its core beer portfolio. In early 2025, the brewery expanded its lineup with Helles Dittken, a pale lager bottled in 0.33-litre format, signalling a continued investment in product innovation. Herforder Brauerei has also embraced digitalisation and modern brewing technology, partnering with Krones to optimise its filling and production processes. The brewery's blend of traditional German pilsner craftsmanship and forward-looking operational investment keeps it relevant in a competitive market.
