Heretic Brewing Company
United States · Founded in 2010
Heretic Brewing Company was founded in late 2010 by Jamil Zainasheff in Fairfield, California, a city located east of San Francisco. Zainasheff honed his craft as a homebrewer while maintaining his engineering career, but the enthusiasm of fans of his beers ultimately convinced him to open the brewery's doors in 2011. The name carries no religious meaning — as the brewery itself puts it, great craft beer is simply a religion of its own. Heretic has built a reputation for pushing the limits of traditional beer styles. Their portfolio spans a wide range of styles, including hoppy IPAs, hazy IPAs, rich stouts, and lagers brewed in the traditional Munich Helles style using German malts, hops, and yeast. The brewery also produces hard seltzers, reflecting an ambition to explore beyond conventional brewing boundaries. This diverse lineup is a testament to the experimental spirit that defines the brand. The Heretic taproom in Fairfield features over 20 craft beers on tap and welcomes local residents, craft beer enthusiasts, and industry partners alike. The brewery's reach extends well beyond California — its beers have been distributed internationally, including through Singapore-based importer BeerStyle Distribution, bringing Heretic's bold flavors to craft beer fans across Asia.
