Faxe is a Danish brewery with roots stretching back to 1881, founded by Nikoline and Conrad Nielsen in the town of Faxe on the eastern coast of Denmark. The brewery grew steadily over the following century and became one of Denmark's most recognised beer brands. In 1989, Faxe merged with fellow Danish breweries Ceres and Thor to form Royal Unibrew, a brewing and beverage company now headquartered in Faxe. Despite the corporate restructuring, the Faxe name and its brewing heritage have remained central to the group's identity. Faxe's portfolio centres on lager styles, with Faxe Pils — a 4.6% ABV pilsner — serving as the flagship and the only Royal Unibrew brand distributed nationally throughout Denmark. The brewery is also known for its stronger offerings, including a robust 10% ABV lager recognised for its sweet malt character and lightly bitter finish. Faxe Red, a variant with a distinctive flavour profile, rounds out part of the range and has gained international visibility. As a pillar of the Royal Unibrew group, Faxe continues to brew on its home site in Faxe, Denmark, where production has been consolidated following the closure of other group breweries. The brand carries a long tradition of Danish brewing craftsmanship and remains one of the more recognisable Scandinavian lager names in export markets worldwide.
