Browar Namysłów, located in the town of Namysłów in western Poland near Wrocław, is widely regarded as the oldest brewery in Poland, with roots stretching back to the 14th century. Its origins lie in a ducal malt and brewhouse established centuries ago, making it a living monument to Polish brewing heritage. Despite the turbulence of World War II, the brewery was among the few Polish brewing operations to be successfully revived in the post-war period, a testament to the enduring importance of brewing in this region. The brewery built its reputation as a strong regional beer company, producing approximately 1.7 million hectolitres of beer across two brewing sites: Namysłów and Braniewo. Its portfolio reflects classic Central European brewing traditions, including a well-known pilsner — Namysłów Pils — brewed using traditional methods such as open fermentation tanks. The brewery has also produced wheat beers such as Białe Pszeniczne, showcasing a range beyond its flagship lager styles. In 2018–2019, Grupa Żywiec, the Polish operation of Heineken, acquired Browar Namysłów for approximately 500 million Polish złoty, integrating it into a broad portfolio of brands including Żywiec, Warka, Tatra and Leżajsk. Despite this storied legacy, Heineken subsequently announced the closure of the historic Namysłów brewing site, marking the end of centuries of continuous production at this legendary location.
