Brouwerij Van Viven
Belgium · Founded in 1999
Brouwerij Van Viven is a Belgian brewery officially launched in 1999 by Willy De Lobel, a passionate homebrewer who transformed his personal recipes into a fully-fledged commercial operation. The brewery is based in Sijsele, a village in the West Flemish region of Belgium. Rather than operating its own brewing facility from the start, Van Viven has collaborated with De Proefbrouwerij in Lochristi to produce its beers, a common practice among Belgian craft brewers looking to maintain quality without the overhead of a full production site. The Van Viven portfolio centres around a core range of accessible yet characterful Belgian beer styles. Among their signature offerings, the Viven Blond has been brewed since the very beginning in 1999, originally marketed under the name Chapel of Viven. The range also includes a traditional Viven Bruin, a Viven Porter — notable for its use of Tomahawk hops alongside classic dark malts — and a Viven Imperial IPA clocking in at 8% ABV, showcasing the brewery's ambition to push beyond traditional Belgian styles. According to sources, the brewery has developed a steady assortment of six approachable beers over a relatively short period, demonstrating consistent growth since its founding.
