Brouwerij Sint-Joris is a historic brewery rooted in the West Flemish village of Reningelst, Belgium. Its history stretches back to at least the 19th century, making it one of the older brewing establishments in the region. The brewery operated on a site that combined both a maltings and a brewery — a traditional setup that was once common across rural Flanders. Over the decades, Sint-Joris became a recognisable name in the local brewing landscape, with its story carefully documented by regional heritage researchers, including a publication by Frank Becuwe dating from 1998. The brewery site in Reningelst has since taken on a new cultural role. Today it is home to De Kinderbrouwerij, an educational brewing experience that has been sharing the story of the original Mouterij en Brouwerij Sint-Joris for over ten years. The location is used to introduce visitors — young and old — to the history of malting and brewing in the area, and serves as a venue for local events such as folk games and heritage days. Sint-Joris holds a special place in the local memory of Reningelst. During the first Reningelste bierfestival, a beer was presented that was described as inextricably linked to the old Sint-Joris brewery, underscoring the enduring legacy of this historical brewing site in the West Flemish community.
